Curtain airbags are installed inside the headliner (LH and RH) and protect the driver and passenger from danger when a side crash occurs. The SRSCM determines deployment of the curtain airbag by using the side impact sensor (SIS) signal.

| Inspection |
Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using the specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury. |

Inspect the airbag according to troubleshooting table. (Refer to Curtain Airbag Module - "Troubleshooting") |

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the roof trim assembly. (Refer to Body - "Roof Trim Assembly") |

Disconnect the curtain airbag module connector (A).

Remove the curtain airbag module (A) after loosening the bolts and nuts.

Install in the reverse order of removal. |

After installing the airbag module, confirm proper system operation: Switch "ON" the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about six seconds and then off. |

When a vehicle crashes with a certain degree of frontal impact, the pretensioner seat belt helps to reduce the severity of injury to the front seat occupants by retracting the seat belt webbing.
