Repair procedures
Removal
1.

Disconnect the (-) battery terminal.

2.

Remove the rear wheel and tire.

(Refer to Tires/Wheels - "Wheel")

3.

Remove the under cover (A).

4.

Loosen the bolt and nut (A) and then remove the rear lower arm from the rear axle.

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N.m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

  

Set up the transmission jack under the lower arm in order to remove it in no-load condition.

Before removing the rear lower arm, mark the position and direction of the bolt and washer before changing.

5.

Loosen the bolt and nut (A) and remove the rear shock absorber from the rear lower arm.

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N.m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

6.

Loosen the bolt and nut (A) and then disconnect the rear stabilizer link from the rear lower arm.

Tightening torque :

58.8 - 68.6 N.m (6.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 50.6 lb-ft)

  

When loosening the nut (A), fix the outer hexagon of stabilizer bar link.

Be careful not to damage the stabilizer link boots.

7.

Remove the rear coil spring (A).

8.

Remove the rear axle assembly.

(Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "Rear Hub - Carrier")

9.

Remove the rear muffler.

G 2.0 NU MPI (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Muffler")

G 2.5 GDI THETA II (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Muffler")

10.

Support the jack and loosen the subframe bolts and nuts.

Tightening torque

Bolt (A) : 176.5 - 196.1 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.2 - 144.7 b-ft)

Nut (B) : 176.5 - 196.1 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.2 - 144.7 b-ft)

11.

Loosen the bolts and then remove the rear sub frame stay (A).

Tightening torque :

44.1 - 58.8 N.m (4.5 - 6.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 43.4 lb-ft)

12.

Slowly lower the jack to remove the rear sub frame.

13.

Loosen the bolt and nut and remove the rear upper arm (A) from the rear sub frame.

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N.m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

14.

Loosen the bolt and nut and remove the rear assist arm (A) from the rear sub frame.

Tightening torque :

107.8 - 117.6 N.m (11.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 79.5 - 86.8 lb-ft)

15.

Loosen the bolts and nuts and remove the rear lower arm (A) from the rear sub frame.

Tightening torque :

107.8 - 117.6 N.m (11.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 79.5 - 86.8 lb-ft)

16.

Loosen the stabilizer bracket bolts and remove the rear stabilizer bar (A).

Tightening torque :

44.1 - 53.9 N.m (4.5 - 5.5 kgf.m, 32.5 - 39.8 lb-ft)

Insepction
1.

Check the bushing for wear and deterioration.

2.

Check for all bolts and nuts.

Installation
1.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

2.

Check the alignment.
