Kia Optima DL3: Power Train / Drive Belt

Check belt for maintenance and abnormal wear of V-ribbed part. Replace if necessary.

• Do not bend, twist or turn the drive belt inside out. • Do not allow the drive belt to come into contact with oil, water and steam.

Visually check the belt for excessive wear, frayed cords etc.

If any defect has been found, replace the drive belt.

Cracks on the rib side of a belt are considered acceptable. If the belt has chunks missing from the ribs, it should be replaced.

Remove the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")

Using the wrench, turning the auto tensioner pulley (A) counterclockwise and then remove the drive belt (B).

Install in the reverse order of removal.

Remove the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Room Under Cover")

For release the tension, turn the drive belt tensioner (A) clockwise then remove the drive belt (B).

Remove the water pump belt.

Install the water pump belt.

(2)	Install the water pump belt (A) by turning the damper pulley clockwise. Install the water pump belt while being careful not to damage the water pump belt caused by water pump pulley mounting bolt.

For release the tension, turn the drive belt tensioner (A) clockwise then install the drive belt (B).

Install in the reverse order of removal.
