Description and operation
Description

Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse (PCA-R) : When the vehicle is in reverse, in order to prevent collosion and reduce possible damage, the system warns to the driver or controls the brake in case of danger of collision with pedestrians or objects.

1.

PCA-R activation condition

(1)

PCA ON : Be able to turned on/off using the user setting menu (USM) on cluster

(2)

Vehicle status : Trunk closed, PDW switch ON

(3)

Shift lever position : R range

2.

PCA-R Operation

(1)

Shift lever position : R range

(2)

Vehicle speed : less than 10 km/h (6 mph)

(3)

When detecting pedestrians or object in the rear, the system warns and control the brake in case of danger of collision. (maintain about 2 seconds)

(4)

If the system is braking once after inputting R range, no subsequent braking will occur. Re-operate when R range is entered after other range change(P,N,D).

Repair procedures
Inspection
1.

In the body electrical system, failure can be quickly diagnosed by using Kia Diagnostic System (KDS).

The diagnostic system (KDS) provides the following information.

(1)

Self diagnosis : Checking failure and code number (DTC).

(2)

Current data : Checking the system input/output data state.

(3)

Actuation test : Checking the system operation condition.

(4)

Additional function : Controlling other features including system option setting and zero point adjustment.
