Kia Optima DL3: Button Engine Start System / ESCL(Electronic Steering Column Lock)

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Remove the crash pad lower panel.

(Refer to Body - "Crash Pad Lower Panel")

Remove the steering column upper and lower shrouds.

(Refer to Body - "Steering Column Shroud Panel")

Remove the electronic steering column lock (A) by loosening the mounting bolts after disconnecting the connector (B).

Install in the reverse order of removal.

• The existing shear bolts must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.) • Tighten the shear bolts until its head is cut off.
