Repair procedures

Removal
1.

Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

2.

Remove the stabilizer bar bushing (A).

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 9.8 N.m (4.5 - 5.5 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)

3.

Disconnect the vent hose quick-connector (A), the vapor hose quick-connector (B) from the canister.

4.

Remove the canister after loosening the mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 9.8 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)

Inspection
1.

Check for the following items visually.

Cracks or leakage of the canister

–

Loose connection, distortion, or damage of the vapor hose/tube

A : Canister ↔ Atmosphere

B : Canister ↔ Fuel Tank

C : Canister ↔ Intake Manifold

Installation
1.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

    Description and operation Description Evaporative Emission Control System prevents fuel vapor stored in fuel tank from vaporizing into the atmosphere.

    Description and operation Description A ratchet tightening device on the threaded fuel filler cap reduces the chances of incorrect installation, which would seal the fuel filler.

    Repair procedures Replacement 1. Remove the condenser. 2. Remove the cap (A) on the bottom of the condenser with a L wrench. Tightening torque : 9.81 - 14.71 N.
