The Side Airbags (SAB) are installed inside the front seat and protects the driver and passenger from danger when a side crash occurs. The SRSCM determines deployment of the side airbag by using the Side Impact Sensor (SIS) signal.

| Inspection |
Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using the specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury. |

Inspect the airbag according to troubleshooting table. (Refer to Side Airbag Module - "Troubleshooting") |
| Removal |

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Remove the front seat back cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Seat Back Cover") |

Remove the side airbag wiring (A) after loosening the side airbag wiring clips.

Remove the side airbag (A) by loosening the nuts.

| Installation |

Install in the reverse order of removal. |

After installing the airbag module, confirm proper system operation: Switch "ON" the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about six seconds and then off. |

Repair procedures Inspection When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver or use a prying trim tool, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
