Description and operation

Description

The Side Airbags (SAB) are installed inside the front seat and protects the driver and passenger from danger when a side crash occurs. The SRSCM determines deployment of the side airbag by using the Side Impact Sensor (SIS) signal.

•	Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using a specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury.

Repair procedures

Inspection

Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using the specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury.

1.	Inspect the airbag according to troubleshooting table. (Refer to Side Airbag Module - "Troubleshooting")

Removal

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

After disconnecting the cables, wait at least 3 minutes.

2.	Remove the front seat back cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Seat Back Cover")

3.	Remove the side airbag wiring (A) after loosening the side airbag wiring clips.

Remove the side airbag (A) by loosening the nuts.

Tightening torque :

5.8 - 7.8 N·m (0.6 - 0.8 kgf·m, 4.3 - 5.7 lb·ft, 52.0 - 69.4 lb·in)

Installation

1.	Install in the reverse order of removal.

2.	After installing the airbag module, confirm proper system operation: Switch "ON" the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about six seconds and then off.

Troubleshooting

Description and operation Description The passenger airbag (PAB) is installed inside the crash pad and protects the front passenger in the event of a frontal crash.

Curtain Airbag (CAB) Module❯

Description and operation Description Curtain airbags are installed inside the headliner (LH and RH) and protect the driver and passenger from danger when a side crash occurs.

Repair procedures Inspection When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver or use a prying trim tool, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
